Okonkwo's veiw of women

In the book things fall apart Okonkwo is scolded for not knowing the Ibo proverb that the mother is supreme. Okonkwo ignores this throughout the book because he does not understand that you could actually love your wife. He was mystified when he head about the husband and wife who died together. He can’t believe that two people could love each other so much. He thinks that women are weak. He also thinks they are too emotional and that they are possessions that can be bought and sold to each other. He does not understand that the man is not the whole family. The child also loves their mother just as much as they love their father.
