Freedom? or Survival?

In My opinion freedom is more important than survival. The first time I read the question I thought surviving was more important but as I was writing my blog I realized that freedom was much more important to me. I was going to give an example when I realized that if I were a slave I would have tried anything to escape even if it meant losing my life. I think that Surviving without freedom isn’t really surviving at all. You won’t experience love, happiness, or excitement. The only emotions that you would have are hatred and anger. Even if you think that you would rather survive than have your freedom I believe that eventually you would try something to win your freedom or escape.

What If you knew that soon you would be sentenced to life in prison without parole, what would you do would you try to escape and possibly be killed or would you just go to jail so that you stay alive? What if you where a prisoner of war, would you try to escape or would you wait to be rescued? What would you do in these two scenarios? For both of these questions I would say I would try to escape. I would hate to just sit in a little room for days on end and know that nothing would ever change. I would try to escape so that I could live out the rest of my days with the freedom I was born with.

Blog #1 War

I think that war is both good and bad. War can help or destroy people’s lives. I would go to war for a lot of reasons. I think it is all right to go to war if it is to help other people and enrich their lives. I do not believe in going to war just to show how much bigger and better your country is than another. World War II is a perfect example. The Germans went to war just to try to take over more land and show everyone how good they where. The Allies went to war to try to stop the expansion of the Nazi regime, and to liberate the concentration camps. An example of when we shouldn’t go to war is Vietnam. We went to war but fought a defensive war. We didn’t try to win we only tried to hold a citron point. I don’t think that is a war that should be fought. If you go to war you should do everything you can do to win a quickly and most efficiently as possible. You should also try to remove all civilians and hurt as little as possible to help stop the effects of war on people’s lives. I would go to war for many different reasons. If there was a country I am allied with I would go to their aid to help them because I know that they would do the same for me. I would also go to war to liberate a group of people or to give a country back to it people.

My favorite character in the book of mice and men is Lennie because he is never angry or mad.  he never does anything out of meanness but he just doesn't know that he did something wrong.  George can be mean to lennie but lennie is never mean to george.  Lennie is very innocent and try to be the best that he can.  i like how the author makes Lennie like a kid but in a giants body.  i thought it was funny how curly starts to beat up lennie and george says to "get him" and lennie breaks his hand without even trying.  i also like lennie because he likes Rabbits and i also like rabbits.  lennie likes soft things and i like soft thing.  i cant really think of any other things or reasons why i like lennie i just get this feeling in my tummy that lennie is my favorite characters.

Enthusiasm- (Noun) absorbing or controlling possession of the mind by any interest or pursuit; lively interest: He shows marked enthusiasm for his studies. I believe in Enthusiasm because if people just don't care than nothing in the world would get finished.  Romeo was enthusiastic about his love for juliet and so they where able to get married in secret even though both of their families hated each other.  Lennie is enthusiastic about rabbits so he has a goal in life that he works towards every day.  If Lennie didn't care about rabbits he would have no reason to try to be good for george.  If you weren't enthusiastic about your job all of us wouldn't learn a thing but since you are enthusiastic we all are really good at using Language and reading Literature.

I think dreams sometimes fall because you don't have a realistic dream that is even possible.  Romeo and juliet both have the dream to get married but since they are on opposite sides of a family feud and have to be so sneaky they where just set up to fail.  In Things Fall Apart Okonkawo Dreams of being a rich and powerful man but as it say in the tittle Things fall apart for Okonkawo.  He tries to hard, and gets himself banished.  Being banished makes him lose so much time to gain a higher social class he has no way to fulfill his dream.  I have dreams of becoming rich having alot of friends who don't just want me for my stuff, owning my own island, owning my own soccer complex,  becoming the King of England, Going back in time,  Join the CIA, Have 2 Kids, Go to a Good Collage, Have Some fun, and Be happy.  Most of those things probobly won't come true due to diffrent variable that can affect each one and if it is even possible,  Take Being the King of England for example.  i may wish to be but there is now way i can become the kings son. no way in the whole entire universe because i cant change my perents no matter what.  I guess i could get the king to adopt me or somthing like that but then even than i don't know if i they would let me be king because i am not of royal blood.

Of Mice and Men Blog #3

I think it is important that people have a sense of belonging because if they don't they could go into a depression and kill themselves like Romeo and Juliet. All Romeo has is his love for Juliet because his best friend Mercutio died.  Without any friends Romeo only has Juliet and when he thinks Juliet is dead he thinks there is nothing for him left to live for. In Of Mice and men Lennie really needs George as a friend because without George Lennie would have no place to stay or be because no one wants a big stupid guy that doesn't know his own strength working on there farm.  I think it is also important to have friends because you have someone to talk to when you don't know what to do and have someplace to go when u want to do something and u are board. In Things fall apart Okonkwo has friends at the beginning of the book but towards the end of the book no one agrees that they should drive out the white people and so he also kills himself at the end of the book.  In the book A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah, Ishmael is stuck in the middle of a war and is separated from his friends and family.  Throughout that book you constantly hear him talking about how he wished for his family and friends to be back with him.

A friend is someone who likes to be around you and you like to be around them.  A friend is someone who will help you through tough times and will cheer you up when u feel sad.  We have friends because we don't want to be all alone in the world.  friends are important to have because they give you someone to talk to when u feel like you cant talk to anyone else.  It is also important to have friends because friends introduce u to people you would never meet if you didn't have that person as a friend.  All Romeo has is his love for Juliet because his best friend Mercutio died.  Without any friends Romeo only has Juliet and when he thinks Juliet is dead he thinks there is nothing for him left to live for so he kills himself. Having frinends is something that helps Ishmeal Beah through his journey through the war.  Ishmeal encounters his friends many times and loses his friends many times.  In things fall apart okonkawo is lucky he has some friends in another village because he when he is banished he needs someplace to go.
